Typology 2: Process in waiting

Álvaro Rancaño García, Pablo López Arias, Cristina Veiras Barreiro

Research Questions
The relationship of architect to the client was the main research interest in this proposal, comparing the classic architect-client relationship with a promoter to a new proposed relationship with the neighbourhood.

Research Methodology
This group combines an innovative forensics digital research with on the ground research of informal neighbourhood knowledge, found through in situ interviews of local bar owners. Using the time portal function of google street view, the group investigated previous states of the land, finding clues on its ownership and status of building approval records through advertisement boards and construction cranes visible on old google street view images. The group visualized in their action network drawing the relationships of the former and current owner, the neighbours, the architect and the council among others.

Proposal
Using the existing law (article 2.2.7 of the PXOM) the group proposes a re-designed relationship of a new socially responsible architect with the neighbourhood. The citizens should be empowered in their work with the government and the current owner, in order to temporarily use the site with a public function, in this case as a temporary sports field.

This is a very complex situation, we cannot propose just one question, as the project is develops, questions will appear. What kind of economic model we want? Rental or production? What kind of country do we want? We destroy our productive model and now we have a speculative model based on construction of space
